Celebrating Dad in Style With A Handmade Card-Classic Road Legends.
Hello, Today I am making a card for my dad for fathers day. He has always wanted a truck and sad to say he never got one. He loves classic cars so I thought this would be the perfect card for him. This was very simple to make. The star of the show for this project is the Timeless Truck die set from Mindy Eggens Road Legends collection at Spellbinders.
I started off with with the panel of the card. I used a 4.25 × 5.5 sheet of white for my ink blending. I brought in the Scenic Drive stencil. There are 5 layering stencils that are very easy to line up. I used colors from Stampin’ Up. The sky portion was Misty Moonlight. The sun has 3 layers- Timid tiger ink for the outside circle, the middle circle was Crushed Curry and the inner circle was Daffodil Delight. The trees were done using Mossy Meadow and Old Olive. There is a bottom portion of the stencil for the ground but it does not show due to the placement of the truck.
After I was done with the stencil I cut ½ inch off the top and ½ inch off bottom and layered it on top of some striped paper that I had in my stash for ages. (making sure I had the same amount of the stripes showing on the top and the bottom).
this was taken from Spellbinders site to show assembly
Using the above image as a guide was very helpful for me. I am not the most patient person but this was fun to put together. If you like puzzles then this is for you. The card stock does have imprints after diecutting to help show where to allign the pieces.
I assembled in this order:
main truck piece (Boho Blue)
steering wheel (black)
rear view mirror (silver)
seat (white)
inside of truck (Misty Moonlight)
Running board, Piece behind front grill, 2 accent pieces that fit on top of truck bed (all Misty Moonlight)
tires (first biggest layer was black, middle layer white, and the top layer was silver)
Grill of truck ( silver]
Under grill is two pieces cut from same die, largest first on bottom then the other piece (both from silver)
head lights (first biggest layer was silver, then the next piece was white)
final step was adding the door handle, two mirrors
I placed the truck at the bottom of the card and then trimmed off the overhang from the left side of the card.
I thought the best placement for the sentiment was at the top of the card. I chose the Crusin’ by to say sentiment and for the inside of the card I used the Happy Fathers day sentiment. I added a strip of the cardstock to the inside of card to jazz it up. I also used a strip of the same pattern paper to decorate the envelope.
Thank you so much for stopping by and hope you have a great day!
